The Tillamook County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team provides Search and Rescue resources to the citizens and visitors of Tillamook County,Oregon.The Tillamook County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team works under the direction of Tillamook County Sheriff'Todd Anderson.
Over the past ten year,the Tillamook County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team
has evolved into a unit of well equipped and highly trained unpaid professionals who are dedicated in providing the citizens of Tillamook County with the best in Search and
Rescue response.
The Search and Rescue Team is comprised of 60 trained volunteers whom specialize
in all aspects of search and rescue that includes:Search Techniques,Land Navigation,
Man Tracking,Rescue and Recovery,and First-Aid.An overhead team trained in incident command systems,command post operations,and search management directs searches in the field.
Tillamook County provides visitors with 75 miles of scenic coastline,four bays,and nine rivers.This area offers sportsmen and visitors the finest deepsea and stream fishing,boating,clamming,crabbing,beach combing and hiking opportunities.The
Tillamook County forests also provide excellent hunting,backpacking,mountain biking,
atv riding and other recreational activities.Tillamook County is a visitors and hikers
paradise offering diverse terrain,seasons and environments for the outdoor enthusiast.
Along with these come dangers and challenges that often result in Search and Rescue missions.
Every year the members of the Tillamook County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team are summoned to carry out numerous Search and Rescue missions in all weather conditions.These missions include:missing children,alzheimers patients,hunters,hikers,fishermen,as well as other recreation based subjects.This requires members to have above average endurance and to feel comfortable in the great outdoors in extreme conditions.Searching can be very rewarding,but also very draining(both physically and emotionally).The Tillamook County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team is fortunate to have this dedicated and skilled organization of volunteers.
